About Me

Greetings! I'm Vlad Vlăsceanu, 26 years old, currently working in Austin, Texas at the White Lion Internet Agency. I am originally from the beautiful town of Braşov, Romania, where I've spent most of my life. In the last seven years I've had the opportunity to travel and study abroad and have lived and worked in many corners of Europe.

About three years ago, I finally managed to cross the Atlantic Ocean, fully prepared to face the challenges of starting life anew in the U.S. (or at least I thought I was fully prepared... now I'm not so sure anymore...) and I've been here ever since.

Interests and Hobbies
I like to travel and experience new places. Traveling and observing the cultural diversity of the world - I feel - helps me know more about myself. Recently, I also picked up another hobby, model trains and I've been filling up my spare time with it lately. Other areas of interest are Web Design & Development, Computer Graphics and Design, Multimedia and Film Production, Network Security, Information Systems and e-Commerce.

Experience
Web Applications Development. Building and maintaining web sites and interactive web applications using the following technologies: PHP, JavaScript, AJAX, XML, .NET (VBScript and C#).

Computer Graphics, Design and Multimedia. After preparing to attend university for a degree in architecture, which I eventually did not attend anymore, I remained very interested in the area of graphics, especially computer graphics and computer aided design. Experience with DTP, CAD, Layout, Multimedia and Video Editing. Software I have worked with: ArhiCAD, CorelDRAW, Microsoft Visio, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, PageMaker, Premiere, Quark Xpress, Dreamweaver and Homesite.

Computer Networks, Maintenance and Hardware, Internet. I had several part time jobs, summer jobs and activities in the field of computer systems and information systems administration. I have working experience with: PC, Mac, routing and switching equipment, CISCO IOS, Mac OS, Linux, Microsoft Windows Workstation and Server versions, MS Internet Information Services, Apache (Windows/Linux), MS SQL Server, MySql, .NET Framework, Firewalls and Intrusion Detection Systems.
